German Short-Haired Pointer

Friendly and intelligent, the German Short Haired Pointer is eager and willing to please. They display a keen enthusiasm for work. They are very energetic and friendly. Generous and regular off-lead exercise is often required. They are hunters by nature. They may be reserved with strangers, and like to bark.

Usually a healthy breed, the German Short Haired Pointer may be prone to epilepsy.  They may suffer from Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). They are prone to hip dysplasia. They may also suffer from Von Willebrand’s Disease, a genetic bleeding disorder. Interesting Fact: Today, the German Shorthaired Pointer is more popular in the United States than in Germany, its country of origin.
