Ted Kennedy himself barely escaped death when his car crashed off a bridge in 1969 – he left his passenger to die. His first wife was convicted for drink driving and his political career struggled – the paternity test was merely yet another scandal. Kennedy was labelled as ‘scandal hit’ by newspapers across The States when revelations of a secret love child and paternity test were unveiled. The story in the National Enquirer said Ted Kennedy had an affair in his fifties and asked the woman in question to have an abortion when she fell pregnant. It was said he paid her to keep quiet as he feared a paternity test would ruin his political career. Kennedy did take a paternity test when the secret love child was born two decades ago. It’s been reported that Ted Kennedy kept the child a secret for 21 years.
